The Jazz Club
A Fund for the Burlington Discover Jazz Festival
Now in its 36th year, the Burlington Discover Jazz Festival has grown to have a tremendous impact on this community, drawing more people downtown than any other event and offering programs accessible to everyone regardless of age, income, or socioeconomic status.
As a relevant and transformative event for over three decades, it is not immune to having years that are more challenging due to weather, the economy, etc. This fund is being established to support continued careful financial stewardship to ensure its future as a flagship event for this community for years to come.
Please join us in building this fund that will support these initiatives for years to come.
The Jazz Club will bolster the elements fundamental to the Festival’s mission since it began:
Keep it free: With over 100 hours of free live music spread all over Burlington, the Festival reaches over 70,000 people annually.
Presenting artists of the highest caliber: With legendary performers from Ella Fitzgerald and Tony Bennett to Trombone Shorty and Kamasi Washington, each year the Festival lineup honors the jazz tradition and invites audiences to discover the genre’s current influencers.
Instilling jazz appreciation in the next generation: Inviting over 500 student musicians to perform on the Church Street Marketplace each year, the school performances inspire a new generation to appreciate the uniquely American art form.
Innovative experiences: From Jazz on the Bus to pop-up performances on the top of a downtown parking garage, throughout its history the Festival has inventively approached creating new opportunities for discovery.
Providing accessible community tickets: Each year, the festival partners with more than 50 social service agencies to make ticketed performances accessible and affordable to every member of the community.
Expanding jazz audiences: During the 10 days of the festival, jazz is inescapable as it changes the atmosphere of your downtown experience. Each year, the Artist in Residence program invites celebrated jazz musicians to spend time in our community, participate in local music education programs, and engage with festivalgoers, local groups, and student musicians. Meet the Artist interviews and Listening Sessions with festival headliners and local music influencers deepen engagement and connect audiences and artists.
