The Godmother of Soul, whose critically-acclaimed jazz record, Bel Hommage, arrived in 2017, claims a seat in the Grammy and Apollo Theater Halls of Fame, was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from BET, and performed alongside Aretha Franklin for the Women of Soul concert at the White House in 2014.
