Hailed as the godfather of the Burlington music scene, composer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist James Harvey has led, played and recorded with numerous bands and, fortunately for Burlington, has returned to the stage after a brief hiatus. He will perform his own haunting and multi-layered compositions on solo piano.
Nicholas Cassarino started taking lessons with Paul Asbell at the beginning of high school. By the time Nick graduated, the student/teacher paradigm had clearly changed, and the “lessons” became inspired playing sessions for the two musicians. Nick and Paul turned their love of jazz and its roots in blues and gospel into spontaneous, joyful and passionate music, containing the elements of high art and good sport. The two musicians will reprise the intimacy of their living-room sessions for a special Discover Jazz performance.
