A decade evolved from their debut at the 2003 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk offers an unforgettable live experience steeped in the “Big Easy” tradition of a good time. With a colossal low-end and filthy grooves powered by the unique double-bass attack of Tony Hall and Nick Daniel, the all-star collective re-imagines the boundaries of an entire genre, harnessing the vintage funk of The Meters, Sly & the Family Stone, and P-Funk with modern forays into gospel, blues, and straight-up rock.
The Soul Rebels get right to the heart of New Orleans music, playing ferocious grooves fueled by Latin funk, hip-hop beats, smoky soul sax, yelping brass, and street-wise jazz. At the forefront of the New Orleans musical revitalization, the eight-piece ensemble pumps out some of the most exciting, head-spinning, body-pumping music to emerge from the city in years. Playing tunes from their 2012 album Unlock Your Mind on Rounder Records, the utterly uplifting and energetic Soul Rebels “immediately invite the listener to party” (BBC).
