Monster saxophonist and clarinet player Greg Tardy is “on track to help write the next chapter in jazz history” (All About Jazz). A big-sounding player with deep-seated blues feel and cerebral avant-garde chops, Tardy leads a smoking quartet that performs his knotty tunes with fire. As a veteran of the groups of Tom Harrell, Wynton Marsalis, Jay McShann, Bill Frisell, Betty Carter, and Andrew Hill (among many others), Tardy has developed a sound that ranges from modern, expansive pieces to lyrical waltzes, to explosive neo-bop. A truly awesome bandleader and performer, to witness Tardy in concert is to revel in his inventiveness and finesse.
Join us for a Meet the Artist Session with Greg Tardy, moderated by Grammy®-winning Burlington Discover Jazz Festival critic-in-residence, Bob Blumenthal, with opportunity for questions from the audience - Sunday, June 9th at 4 pm in FlynnSpace.
